RENEWAL OF VOWS
There are many reasons why couples decide to reaffirm the wedding vows they made at their wedding ceremony.
It may be that you would like to celebrate a significant Anniversary, you may have been through some difficult times and want to reaffirm your commitment to each other and your relationship, you may want to have a ceremony for people who were unable to attend your wedding, or you may wish to renew your vows as a celebration of the evolution of your relationship. Whatever the reason, a Renewal of Vows Ceremony is a wonderful way to celebrate and reaffirm the love and commitment of a couple to each other.
There is no legal significance in a Renewal of Vows Ceremony, so basically this time your ceremony can contain the wording you would like. The ceremony can be simple or more involved.
You may like your Renewal of Vows Ceremony to include the presence of and even the participation of your family and friends, sometimes even original members of your bridal party. Or, maybe you just want this to be an intimate time, just between the two of you.
In this type of ceremony you can state your continuing love for each other, you may even like to repeat the vows you made in your marriage ceremony. You can also create new vows, vows that acknowledge the journey you have made together so far and confirm your ongoing commitment to each other.
As the name suggests, in a Renewal of Vows Ceremony, the actual vows you make to each other are usually the most important part of your ceremony. Your ceremony can be formatted similarly to a wedding ceremony or can be uniquely yours, with a structure chosen by you.
The options available to include in your ceremony are almost limitless. You may include your choice of vows, poetry, readings, symbolic rituals, music, and you may like to include family and friends, or even your children from your partnership. You can also include a commemorative certificate, this can be witnessed by two witnesses if you would like, you may even like your children to witness it. You may also want to include your hopes and dreams for the years that lie ahead.
