Your Wedding
A wedding ceremony celebrates a very special and significant event in your life. A civil marriage ceremony allows you to create a wedding ceremony that reflects your personality, feelings and beliefs. The content of your wedding ceremony is entirely up to you, no two ceremonies are the same, and you can make your ceremony uniquely yours. You can include readings, poems, verses, music, cultural symbols, and if you would like some religious content in your ceremony, I have no problem with this at all. You may like to invite family and friends to participate.
So, whether you choose to have a very simple ceremony, a traditional ceremony, a more modern ceremony, or a small intimate ceremony, or maybe a combination of any of these – together we can create a beautiful wedding ceremony that reflects both of you as a couple.
Lawfully there are some aspects of your ceremony which I as the celebrant, and you as the couple marrying must say. The Monitum and Vows are the only actual part of your wedding ceremony where you are legally married. These words must be heard by your appointed witnesses, and as such form the basis of a legal marriage. That is what your witnesses are signing on all the official documentation towards the conclusion of your ceremony. I will explain all of this to you in further detail at our first face to face meeting.
A civil marriage ceremony also gives you the freedom to choose when and where you would like to hold your ceremony. You may have always dreamed of an early morning wedding ceremony on a beach as the sun is rising, maybe in a park, it could also be in a place that is special to you both; the possibilities are endless. A few things to give some thought to though when choosing the venue for your ceremony; think about inclement weather – always try to have a back up venue planned that is under cover. Consider also your guests – is your Grandma going to be able to make her way up the steep path to the top of that hill that you would love to hold your ceremony on, or is there sufficient space for all the guests you would love to invite? So, think and plan carefully, and you will be rewarded with finding a venue that you are both delighted and comfortable with.
